I'd love to here the explaination behind "scam". You can argue it being a bad value or making compromises you disagree with, but I fail to see how it could possibly be a scam.

I don't have much of an opinion yet. Yes I know, all the news has been out for a long time, etc etc. I don't keep up with Apple that much so I have no real idea of what's going on, just a basic understanding.

 

So far, I feel like it's drastically overpriced, I would never pay $1000 for a phone that spec-wise is basically the same as what came before it(the iPhone 8/8+)

The downside to that is a PC isn't as portable nor can it make calls or text.......or take good photos and 4K 60FPS video. 

 

If that is worth $1,000 is on you but for a lot of people a phone is all they need.

I'm still waiting to see how the display works.  I thought I had heard and seen demos already but perhaps those were not "official".  If it works the way I hope, it could be cool, but if it works the way I fear it might... let's just say new ground will have been broken lol

not a scam. it's the best piece of hardware apple has ever made, and if I were an iPhone user, it would definitely be the phone I'd buy. compared to the iPhone ecosystem, it's incredible. however, it's not my god, since I'm an android user due to it's flexibility (to be clear, not really fanboying -- I reevaluate the pros/cons of IOS and Android every time I buy a phone, and always find android is better for me).

Serious note, though. The 8 should have been what the X was. Apple's fault for stagnating with the 'S' variants and then pulling a Microsoft with the skipping number scheme.

Agreed. Although I would have really liked an X with a lower resolution LCD screen for $150 less.

I’m not the biggest fan of the iPhone X but I also don’t think it’s a profound piece of shit. It’s a very good phone albeit one with polarizing changes for some (especially me) and also priced well into gaming PC territory. 

 

Would I buy one? No, I’d probably wait until next year so Apple can refine and polish whatever rough edges could be there.

Even if I liked iOS I wouldn't want the X because it doesn't have a finger print sensor
