Is my graphic card too close to my case fan ?

Kryptonite79

Hi guys,

I'm currently asking myself if it is good or bad to have my graphic card this cloose to my system fan. I'm thinking that it will be good for the card because it will have fresh air directly pushed in it, but at the smae time I'm wondering if it will keep the rest of the pc warmer since all the fresh air will go in the graphic card. This is my setup :

Case : Inwin 301 mATX case

Fans : 2 bottoms fan are intake, back fan is exhaust.

GPU : MSI Gaming X GTX 970

I don't have other PCIe x16 slot so I can't moove my card, but I think there would be enough place for me to put the 2 bottom fans at the front, but I don't think the airflow would be optimal since there are a lot of cable stuck behind and the aiflow isn't directly at the front (actually it is on the back side panel, you can look for Inwin 301 case if you don't understand well.)

Would like to know your advice on this one, thank a lot !

Are those fans sucking air in or throwing it out? if it is sucking in then I believe you should be totally fine, otherwise thermals shouldn't be 100% optimal the way I see it... regardless do make sure you have dust filters.

if the fans are SUCCing air in its beneficial, if they are SUCCing it out of the case then thermals must be shit for the gpu

Further reading OP it seems it is working as intake therefore every thing should be fine here ^^

I do hope once again that there are dust filters as if it doesn't this will get pretty dirty in no time.

Well, The graphics card already has fans so it's really limiting the air flow in the case for the other parts.

They definitely are intakes, look at the fans, you can see the motors.

Not the perfect solution, as long as your temps are fine, you shouldnt worry too much tho.

You mean that the air would still come in without the fans because of the card succing it in ? That make sense, but if I moove the case fan to the front, it will so create a big negative pressure ? would it be bad or is it not that bad since there's is no dust filter on the back side panel (where the air for front fans would come in)

Yes, these two fans are INTAKE fans, there is a big dust filter on the bottom that cover all under the case.

Yes these fans are intake.

For info, when Unigine Valley run for a bit of time, my max GPU temp is about 65-66C, and on load, my CPU (Ryzen 3 1200, 3.7Ghz Overclock on stock cooler) goes around 48,49C

The InWin 301 has a side accessible dust filter spanning most off the bottom of the case, as it acts as the main intake for the case

the additional airflow and cooler air will definitely help all components in the case
