So I got the Asus b250g micro ATX motherboard and the Asus Strix gtx 1060.
I would like to add some more usb 3.0 ports to my system (the motherboard have only 2 usb 3.0 ports).
The problem is that the 1060 is very close to the pcie x1 slot on the motherboard and I'm afraid I won't be able to put in the usb 3.0  expansion card.
It would be great if you can help me.
thanks. Roy.

as the 1060 is a 2 slot design it should technically fit

You can use PCIe x1 risers to put the USB 3 card a bit further away, maybe lie on the piece of the case below the card.

But it's going to block to airflow from the gpu. Riser extension cable will be better

will go in just fine, you could use a riser if you dont want your GPU to get a little hotter but i wouldent care to spend the extra money personaly

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You have a header on the motherboard (to the left of the one you already used to connect the front panel ports) which will give you two more usb 3.0 ports.

You can either buy a bracket like the one Zagna suggested a couple of posts above, or you can buy one of those front panel things which will put the two connectors in front of your case : https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812122102&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=usb_3.0_bracket-_-12-122-102-_-Product (IF your computer case still has those 5.25" opening which are normally used for optical drives)

If you really want to, yeah, you can put a usb 3 card in that pci-e x1 slot. There are low profile cards which won't block too much airflow to the graphics card, here's an example: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158394&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=usb_3.0_bracket-_-15-158-394-_-Product

However, as others said, it may be easier to just get a pci-e x1 to pci-e x1/x4/x8/x16 riser (either one of those will work) and then plug a usb card at the end of the riser cable , since there's plenty of room at the end of your motherboard to put the slot there.

I have a S340 case so the first suggestion won't work but thanks for the links.
