GTX 480 or 560TI

Brennan808

I am looking at upgrading my GPU and I have decided on either a gtx 480 or 560ti. My question is which one am I better off with but I am open to other cards in the $50 price range.

I would look for a 7870 over either of those. You can probably find one in that price range.

As soon as you get above the 7870/ GTX 660ti you're really increasing the budget. THe next real step above those is a used 7970/680/770/280 at around $120.That's not a small jump. If he's just playing casual esports titles something like the 7870 in the $50 price range will be fine. I mean hell the 7870 performs between a 1050 and 1050ti. Still a perfectly serviceable card on a budget.

I don't even need much power I will only be playing cs go rocket league and maybe GTA not any newer more demanding games.

Directly answering you question (If you really have to do it right now) the GTX 480 is the better choice of the 2.

But like most people have said and will say. Just save that little extra and go with what @Zeitec mentioned I agree with that statement too

If my posts help out, let me know on the feedback buttons.

If those are the options then a GTX 480 without question. The GTX 570 is a rebadged GTX 480 so a 480 is a better card then a GTX 560ti.

Take note that the GTX 480 is hot as hell and probably requires a decent PSU.

My first bought graphics card was a Zotac GTX 560ti thing was a beast, it can game any thing made 2013 and before on 1080p with settings tweaking 60fps.

It has a lot better power efficiency than the nVidia's most energy thirst x80 card, the 480 should perform maybe a little better? it runs much hotter always throttling itself from what we read around though...

I personally would go with the 560ti for having own the product I know it is reliable and all... then again I'd strongly advise considering no less than maxwell based cards nowadays especially for gaming, a GTX 960 would be a lot faster, more efficient and cooler... and shouldn't be all too much more expensive.

How decent?

I have a 450w bronze unit from EVGA.

nVidia recommends 600w... realistic a good 500w could drive it but hard drives consume a lot of power too which might limit, personally I wouldn't go with the 480 again due to your PSU, while the 560ti recommend by nVidia is 450w which means you'll never run into power issues.

I was planning to get the 560ti but just wanted other opinions, thanks for the help.

Yeah a 7870 should be fine. A GTX 480 or 560ti would be really rough in GTA V though.
