Any tips for making AM3+ tolerable?

Is the G4560 that good?

I mean I'd be losing four cores, despite gaining a lot in speed. I just don't see how that is a worthy tradeoff.

It's better but I'm suggesting due to dirt cheap pricing right now (saw a g4560 + H110 for 100 USD on hardwareswap)

Thats a much more attractive option, thanks!

Yup, the i3 8100 is the Bae option, an 8400 is awesome

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Honestly, for the length of time you waited, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just splurge on an 8700K build.

What video card are you running anyway?

I have a GTX 970 from ASUS.

An 8700K might bottleneck that, and for what I use my rig for I don't really have to upgrade it in my opinion.

Put cpu+cooler+mb+ram on ebay,  add 100$ or so, buy ryzen 3 1200 + b350 + ddr4 memory and overclock the cpu if desired.

So how much are you willing to pay for his CPU+cooler+mb+RAM combo exactly?

An 8700K will not bottleneck that at all!
