Nvidia Volta is it still coming?

Is the volta architecture still coming to mainstream gpus? Haven't heard much in a while. Does anyone know?

Yes but not for a while because Nvidia doesn't feel any reason to since AMD isn't competing well enough.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

It will come at last. Volta compute cards are already in the market for some time. There just isnt a reason to make Nvidia release gaming variants of them. Unless AMD managed to make Vega significantly faster, I dont see Nvidia speeding their process. There arent games that can kill mid-high end Pascal cards in their intended target resolution and frame rates anyway. (Crysis series did that to graphics cards at their launch for example).

Yes but do not expect it to be out any time soon, if you need a high performing card go GTX 1080 / 1080ti already, Vega64 is an option but for pure gaming it ain't worth it as this is a card leaning more towards computing.

CES 2018 announcement is what i have always said, like always, and it still seems like the most likely announcement date. Nvidia stated that Pascal will be unbeatable this holiday seson, so they wont be launching Volta especially soon

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

That's not all of the story though, when pascal sales dwindle they'll have no choice but to release something new. AMD competition or not.
