Is there any point in upgrading to a 1070?

For undervolting, I could do, but it's not something Ive ever done before and it seems like it could be time consuming.

Considering it. You said you did it before: how easy/time consuming was it?

Super easy! So the shtick is that all recent AMD cards are shipped with more voltage than they really need, this is done so the worst chips in existence don't crash under load.

Lowering the voltage in wattman and maybe a slight drop in clock speeds as well could potentially take 15c + off your temperatures. With less fan noise aswell.

@AluminiumTech your being pretty aggressive on whats supposed to be a helpful thread 0,o feedback or suggestions is great, but your obviously only pushing for "team red" when thats not necesarilly the bet alternative.

I'm not being aggressive........

I'm only "pushing" for Team Red because I'm against Team Green. I am not ready for Nvidia to become the only GPU manufacturer in the industry. i was suggesting OP use AMD GPUs which are not incredibly loud or hot. If Nvidia keeps getting recommended thread after thread with nobody ever recommended AMD then it's likely that AMD's sales figures will reach a point where they will be unable to produce new GPUs.

This was close to happening with Vega. Vega is and probably will be AMD's last single high end GPU ever.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

How to setup MSI Afterburner OSD | How to make your AMD Radeon GPU more efficient with Radeon Chill | (Probably) Why LMG Merch shipping to the EU is expensive

Oneplus 6 (Early 2023 to present) | HP Envy 15" x360 R7 5700U (Mid 2021 to present) | Steam Deck (Late 2022 to present)

Mid 2023 AlTech Desktop Refresh - AMD R7 5800X (Mid 2023), XFX Radeon RX 6700XT MBA (Mid 2021), MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon (Early 2018), 32GB DDR4-3200 (16GB x2) (Mid 2022

Noctua NH-D15 (Early 2021), Corsair MP510 1.92TB NVMe SSD (Mid 2020), beQuiet Pure Wings 2 140mm x2 & 120mm x1 (Mid 2023),

You shouldn't let a personal opinion or grudge or bias affect the outcome. I get that you dont want AMD to have its GPU downfall, nor do i, but this is not the place to do it. He asked a specific question, and by using facts and benchmarks, those of us who know a bit about other GPU's should try and help him find the best solution. I personally am a big fan of EVGA, and i "Suggest" going for some of their cards (not all) once in a while, but i also give other feedback of whats offered by others as well, and even point out when they are better alternatives as well. Were not here to force what we want onto the consumer but to give them all the information they need to form their own opinion or decision. =/ i hope this clears things up a bit.

@ThinkWithPortals, just undervolt. It wont take you an hour. Literally.

Undervolted mine, together with Firestrike testing. Only took me 20 minutes. That will solve your hot and loud concerns.

Or if not, then by all means, go for 1070. I personally wont though. This coming from a guy who actually owned a 1070 first then sold it for an xfx rx 480. I'm only playing at 1080p 60hz anyway :)
