Commodore 64 mini

Retro Games wants to release a mini commodore 64. It releases in 2018, around the same time as the NES classic. It has 64 pre-loaded games, a joystick, and a free HDMI cable. According to PC Mag:

Retro Games is promising sharp, CRT, and scanline emulation pixel filters as well as a "pixel perfect graphics" mode. 64 games will be available to play including a save game function, with the full list of available titles available on the official website.

 

IMO, this is a bit overpriced.

 

Also, you can connect a keyboard for some reason.

as an owner of multiple commodore 64's , having the keyboard is VERY VERY important , you may not know how a C64 operates 

but having a tiny ass keyboard like this REmake will have is going to be a pain in the ass to operate

I mostly want the ZX and the II because of TheBanHeckShow. And mostly to see him tear both down since he's done a few ZX Spectrum projects and built his own Apple I.

I just bought a C64c like 2 weeks ago dang.

Ahh well. There really is no reason to make the thing smaller since the things barely larger then a regular keyboard with palm rest.

I guess they dont expect you to program on it.

I think its targeted towards gamers and not programmers. You can program on it though

So why not just buy a raspberry pi and emulate the C64? Or just do it with your pc?

thats exactly my point , the point of this device is questionable , the commodore emulating competition pro joystick made sense , as it was a 1:1 replica of a "CoPro" but as plug and play and it worked great 

 

but this? where you have to hook up a keyboard to make it work? might aswell get a Rpi or just download vice and play on your PC 

 

 

AND AT 80 FUCKING EUROS a pop you can just buy 
 

• an old dell or similar older used pc and a usb gamepad
• an old thinkpad or similar laptop usb gamepad
• a raspberry pi , a fancy as fuck case and a keyboard and 32gb sd card
• AN ACTUAL COMMODORE 64 and joystick and maybe a SD2IEC / actual floppy drive 
• like 2 dozen copies of the C64 retro rom collection cd's that have vice baked in and are pretty neat
