Stay on Android or Switch to iOS?

Sounds like more of an issue with carriers not communicating how much data a user gets and them no knowing that setting up an iPhone requires you to exchange some data with cell towers

If you do switch to an iPhone, do not use a lot of data right away if you don't have unlimited data. This is less of a problem now since more people are aware, but when Apple added WiFi Assist in iOS 9, we'd get so many pissed off customers who went over their data while using WiFi.

Settings > Cellular > WiFi Assist

They toned it down in a update, so now wifi assist is fucking useless. Before it worked great for me, but now it never works.

Wifi before in garage was bad so it would use LTE, fine. Now, it tries to do shit still on wifi.

Theres a 'dead' spot of wifi in the basement. Before it would just use 3G, which is FINE. But now it tries to ping to wifi, which the signal is too weak, and wifi assist doesn't do shit..

:( talk about normal people and their terrible wifi routers..

More like Apple enabled a feature without users being aware they have it, let alone it's turned on by default.

Was totally fun trying to defuse a conspiracy level bomb letting people know oh by the way your new iPhone is secretly connecting to your data while you were on WiFi when your local connection was poor.

So many credits were given out because Apple had that feature on by default without user consent and the carriers took the hit for it. Even now when I see an overage and they have an iPhone, it tends to be root cause.

Which makes sense. You are clearly using the phone so you want your data to get to you but at the same time your router is trash tier from the 90s and your cellular would be better at that point.

Hangouts is a joke compared to both iMessage and FaceTime.

"every phone has a messaging service" Yeah that nobody uses and has no unique features

fair enough

Yes it does to a point. That point being app location, wallpapers, how buttons look, etc.

Yes iOS does have a file system. The Files App and iCloud Drive not to mention every app can share between other apps.

"Do they have innovation" Ahahaha So much Apple has done to better phones is erased with that statement

No they don't slow down their phones. If they did you would not be able to buy the iPhone SE, 6s, or 7 with the 8 and X being out.

If you're outside of the US or Australia, nobody uses iMessage.

Literally everybody uses WeChat or WhatsApp.

Woah! Wallpapers! W O A H.. then again, you just got custom keyboards so you're definitely behind

But can I download an mp4 and then watch it? Can I download my music over DLNA into a folder, and then have it work in Foobar2000, BlackPlayer, or any media player that supports the codec?

What has Apple done that's innovative besides the original iPhone? iOS has been playing catch up for a long fucking time now.

Ever ran an iPhone 4 with iOS 7? :^)

Well duh. The iphone 4 had a single core cpu. ios 7 was very demanding on it. Right now if you updated an s3 to the latest android version, it would probably be unusable.

S2 still gets updates to 7.1 with LineageOS, and it's smooth - the device has a dual-core and 1GB of RAM, it's not total garbage.

idk

Yes, I don't know what DLNA is but if you download a file to your phone and send it to an app like VLC or any app that can reach into your files you can play the file. And you can actually play them from inside the files app.

.movs, mp4s, mp3s, m4as, FLAC, AAC, ALAC.....

5-editing photos a cheap smart phone can edit photos

for advanced editing you need a PC

6- browsing the internet ?? hahaha

3.) Hahaha.

4.) No you don't, iOS has a few really good video editing apps that can eliminate the need for a video editing PC for basic edits.

6.) Do you seriously think people do not browse the internet on their phones? Phones support the entire internet you know!

Have you never had to look something up really quickly before? TBH you sound like your are stuck in the 90s where you think everything intense should be done at home on your mobile desktop when you could do it right now with the super computer you have in your pocket if you spend over $500 on it.

it's like WiFi transfers. I open up DLNA server on my PC, then connect using Foobar2000 mobile, and download all my music into /music/ on my device. Any app can now go into /music/ and see 'oh shit there's a load of files in here'.

Had a friend with a brand new iPhone 7 do the same, and it transfers into some /Documents/ directory that he has to access with iTunes to get files off.

fair

it's better than most $50 or $100 carrier phones, all things considered. and it still(!) has a ROM community.

holy shit time flies hahahahahah, thought it was like iOS 10 feature

idk

So what that essentially boils down to is iTunes in terms of functionality.

I can wifi sync any number of songs or video to my iPhone and any media player can request access to my library on my phone and see all the songs.

am in canada, toronto. everyone uses imessage. everyone has iphone.

but I do have to have wechat installed for the couple of people that use wechat instead of imessage.. whatsapp is not a thing I've used since 2015.

yes you can, vlc, chrome has had that ability since iOS 8/9, you can download mp3 via chrome and have it placed in /downloads (which IS user accessible via file browser on PC / if an app supports doing that), don't know any third party music players though since I use spotify

retina display and sexy iphone 5. iOS has been playing catchup for a long time, im not that blind.

iphone 4 on iOS 7 is torture. hint hint, to speed up springboard a lot, disable fancy text under icons.

What I do for that is open chrome, get the tab, open it in safari and done.

Otherwise I just use iCloud Tabs with my MacBook Pro. My PC has sort of been relegated to a gaming machine and power tasks now.

@UltimaHeart Just use what you like more.

I personally prefer android because it is more customisable (is that even a word?)

I'd suggest borrow an Iphone for a day or so and compare it to android to see which you like more.

There are some little things i like in IOS but nothing that would win me over.

Ps.: I very very highly doubt that Google would remove the Jack from the Pixel 2 but we'll see.

Make sure to quote or tag people, so they get notified.

This gotta be placebo.. Chrome uses the exact same rendering engine on iOS, as Apple won't let them port Blink. Only thing different is JS engine and that's not even really that drastic unless the content you read/use is JS heavy.

less animations, chrome has like 200 tabs,

maybe LTT has lots of JS.

it feels to be slightly snappier while reloading webpages or clicking on elements.
