Google desperately wants Azure buyers to consider its Cloud Services and is giving away Chromebooks

AlTech

Google has become desperate. So desperate that it's giving away ChromeBooks to Azure Customers for free. Yes, you heard that right. The Chromebooks cost $0 to Azure Customers.

In case you're not aware, Azure is the Online Cloud Storage service by Microsoft which powers Xbox Live, OneDrive, Skype, Microsoft Teams and many business applications in the enterprise.

Google's Chromebook sales in the enterprise have been abominable at best and practically non-existent at worst.

Chromebooks were never targeted at the enterprise, the reason why Google is providing the Chromebooks is to allow potential customers to experience the power of Google Cloud Services which Chromebooks rely on and use.

The laptop is allegedly planned for Azure customers to use Hangouts to communicate with Google Cloud representatives so that they can give a sales pitch for using Google Cloud.

Quote

Google is trying to attract Microsoft Azure customers over to its Cloud service in an unusual way: by sending free Chromebooks to Azure customers as part of its pitch to convince them to switch over to Google Cloud, as reported by Petri.

Cleverly, the Chromebook is actually part of Google’s approach. The laptop is intended to be used for a Google Hangout, with a Google Cloud representative pitching Azure users on the advantages of Google’s platform.

This comes across as being quite desperate and with the recent structural changes to Google (moving from an Incorporated Company to a Limited Liability Company), Google no longer has direct investors. If Google had investors, Google might come under fire for doing this but as it stands Alphabet Inc (the parent company of Google) continues to rely on investors.

I don't think this plan will be too successful and to be completely honest I would be hesitant to buy cloud storage from a major platform holder such as Google or Microsoft since they could have issues using Cloud Services on different platforms. It's interesting to see that Google doesn't consider Amazon as an immediate threat considering a vast quantity of services online use Amazon AWS such as GitHub, Netflix and other services.

Google is evil and has stepped it up recently.

Microsoft is evil and has really kicked up the 4d3d3d3 of their evil with windows 10.

Google just made its evil political.

Hmm

At least if MS has my cloud data, it's all about marketing data.

I trust them more somehow right now.

oh and a free chromebook to most serious users is worth only whey they can sell it for on ebay.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. Regardless of what internet plebs say about MS and data/spying.  Big business is built on guaranteed assurances that their data is safe, not compromised, etc.  MS know this, IT professionals know this.    I don't think Google have far to go to convince large corporations/governments they are trustworthy, but they still have to none the less.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I would honestly not bat an eye if it comes out that bitlocker has a special cutout for the government. I have every reason to believe they do expect the direct proof or admission that they do.

If this was a potential partner, and they came onto me this card, I'd have started screaming rape by their 4th syllable, jesus that is not desperate, that is demented and sad,

Yours faithfully
