Macs are PCs

Why the hell do so many people think a PC = Windows based and a Mac isn't a PC.

PC = Personal computer. I know a couple people who have used PC to differentiate from a Mac and a Windows based machine. SO WHY?

Went through 2 macbooks. I chipped one SMALL fragile peice on the Logic Board, and now AirPort (WIFI) dosent work.

Its just what people have heard for years. But I agree with you a PC = Windows, Mac (OSX), and Linux. But ppl just say PC for windows cuz it is ez and Mac for OSX, and I don't hear much about linux but a few of my friends just call it "That one OS that nerds use".

So, according to Apple, Mac =/= PC. 

And they are different enough that I would allow a difference.

PC does refer to computers in general, Windows, Linux etc..

Thing is.. Macs aren't computers. They're bacteria.

That is no legitimate reason, since any PC could come into the same issue. You cracked a trace.

I think the PC originally referred to all Personal Computers, but overtime with the dominance of windows, it became shorthand for windows based PC. It probably was related to the IBMPC clones.

 

I really don't know why it matters so much.

Windows Server on a Server is not a PC,ATMs running Windows Embedded Standard/Professional is not a PC,cash registers/pacemakers(yes pacemakers) running Windows Embedded Industry is not a PC.
