HDD showing in bios, but not in file menu

charliezz123

just put in a new HDD, before I just had an ssd. I plugged in the power and sata cable then booted up to the BIOS. It recognized it in Sata slot 4 so i booted up to windows and all i see for storage is the ssd. do i need to do anything in the bios to actually use it or should it just work after it is plugged in.

(its a 3tb hdd from barracuda and i have a MSI z270 gaming pro carbon mobo)

Thanks

You're gonna need to format the drive through the disk management application.

Windows key + R

Diskmgmt.msc

Right click on the drive with the black block that said unallocated or is just a black block and follow the instructions.

After the format is done, you should be good to go.
