Do I wait for volta or go buy Pascal gpu

Hey. I'm building my first gaming/editing pc with Intel's upcoming coffelake CPUs. I am having a hard time deciding whether to go buy a gtx 10 series GPU or wait for volta. Please help

Go buy pascal. Nvidia has already stated that Volta isn't going to be coming any time soon.

If you want to play it safe you could buy a mining GPU (apparently Sept should make it significantly more difficult to mine) and then upgrade later on.

Dont wait. Volta wont be coming fast and AMD's Vega cant compete with it very well (performance is comparable to GTX 1070 and 1080, but power draw is much higher)

Pascal because Volta was further delayed due to no need for it yet since AMD failed to compete.

Buy the best you can afford at the time.

Volta has a while to come and there will always be the "next" thing in a field like this.

Additionally, with little competition from AMD in this department and the sizable jump from Maxwell to Pascal, Volta will not most likely be a comparable jump.

Personally, I am waiting for Coffee Lake to build a new computer as well and am going with the Pascal architecture.

Unless you want to wait a minimum of 6mo (more likely 8-12) then just buy Pascal. I'm waiting on Volta but only because I can make do with my 980 until sometime next year (plus I don't have the money right now).

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.
