Hi everybody,

I'm looking for some help to build a work PC that I can have at a second office.

1. Budget & Location

I want to keep it as low as possible. I'm in Miami, FL. so mainly I been looking in amazon (with LTT bookmark) and newegg for price and parts.

2. Aim

Most of the use of this computer will be browsing the web, and uploading pictures to my job's website (I'm a boat/rv broker). I take pictures of the boats I visit during the day on my phone, and upload them to the computer, and the to the website. I also do some BTC trading. I need something capable of handling around 20 tabs open on chrome, SLACK, and Outlook open at the same time.

3. Monitors

My plan is to use the monitor I have at home a ASUS VG278HE (144hz) and an old 32 inch tv (hdmi) as monitors. I plan to buying another ASUS VG27 or similar in the near future. I plan to drive them with an old GTX 780 (not Ti) which currently sits in my home PC.

4. Peripherals

I will be using windows on this PC. my plan is getting an SSD to boot system and a mechanical drive for storage, something around 1 TB (boat/rv pictures). Planing on buying cheapest mouse and keyboard combo available. And for now, I will be using the monitor speakers.

The reason I'm not moving my home PC overthere is because I want to keep a good computer home and just build a cheaper one. Hopefully, if everything goes well I can upgrade my home PC because it has been a while, that would be for an other project thou. My home PC as a i7-4960X water cooled, 64 GB RAM @2133 MHz,  2 SSD (500GB boot, 1TB games) and 1 HD (2TB photos, music, etc), and 2 GTX 780.

My plan was buying a new board, CPU, storage, and case. And, use one of the GTX 780 for this system, and a Rosewill 1300W 80plus gold that I have from a miner I used to have. I was thinking going with a past generation i5, something around 32 GB of ram, and a regular motherboard that will make it all work. I need some help with actually pairing the sockets to the correct i5, they are kind of tricky (1150, 1151, 1156) not sure which one is the one I should be using.

Any help, idea or comment is greatly appreciated.

Intel G4560

16GB of ram

A micro ATX board

Onboard graphics

SSD for OS

HDD for storage

Windows 10

Case

Power supply

Logitech MK120

No need for GTX 780 or a 144hz monitor. A basic 1080P monitor is good enough for office use.

Why on earth do you think you need 1tb for picture storage? You can very well get away with a large SSD, no need to get two drives. You don't need anything near an i5, I'd recommend a Pentium. Why do you want 32GB of RAM? You won't use it.

To be fair, he doesn't really need 16GB of RAM. 4GB will do.

He said he's reusing the 780 and the monitor...so why spend money when you don't have to?

I'd say 8GB, with lots of tabs open Windows often chokes on 4GB. 16GB is a bit overkill.

idk

20 Tabs of chrome uses more than 6 GB of RAM that's for sure.

I've 4GB of RAM and with about 10 pages alone my memory is almost full.

Yeah, those RAM sizes are overkill for just a office desktop.

I say 8GB is the sweet spot.

Actually if only for office use.  Find a nice laptop and output to the monitor.  A decent laptop can easily handle light workloads like that across multiple screens.  Heck, that what I do when at my military job (sit lappy on dock that outputs across two extra screens).

Your system has 16gb of ram and yet you claim 4gb is enough?!
