Astro A50 3rd Gen muffled audio/too much bass

I recently purchased a pair of 3rd generation Astro A50s and find the audio to have far too much bass causing it to muffle the audio.  I had this problem previously with my Astro a40s but I was able to fix using the equaliser in my sound card software (sound blaster z), however on the a50s I can not use my sound card as the base station only supports USB.  I have tried to persevere with the Astro command centre software but the equaliser in this seems to make very little if any adjustment to the headsets audio.  I was just wondering if there is anyway I could use the headset with my sound card still or if anyone can give some insight into the software.  If not I'm a bit stuck as I doubt the store I bought them from will take a return in the grounds that it has too much bass.  Also I don't claim to know much at all about audio, that's why I've come here, so I'll just apologise in advance for any incorrect terminology I've used.

Sadly Astro isn't that good anymore and I don't recommend them for audiophile. They are more a convenient product. The headset has a aux connector on it self, if I remember correctly

I think Ive come to this conclusion myself, but even I could sort out my previous pair of headphones.  Its got to the point that I genuinely think there is something wrong with either the headset or the software as any changes made make no difference to the audio.

Lesson learned- dont buy headsets. Especially from astro

Amen to that, hopefully Ican get a full refund as theyre only 5 days old..
