Ryzen 5 1600 or Ryzen 7 1700

I'm planning on an upgrade to Ryzen for a PC that will last around 5 years. Although the 1600 is cheaper and will be fine for current gen games, would the 1700 be worth the extra cash for the extra cores/threads especially in future games (regardless of the AM4 platform's upgradability)?

The 1600 is $189.99 and the  1700 is $269.99 at Microcenter.

For games? No. I seriously doubt we will see a major swing in the next five years where games are best with more than 6C/12T.

If you do any streaming, video editing or other multi threaded workloads then you could consider it.

well amds new bottom of the line is a quad core so I think quad cores are the new duel cores, 6 cores should become the new quad core then
