My First Build Compatibility Questions

nolanmcdermott

I'm finally building my first desktop. (This is the PCPartPicker URL)  I want to know if I will have any issues with the RGB, or the construction, or anything when I buy it. I'm opting for the case and psu bundle on amazon, that's why there's no psu in the listing. I'm not worried too much about the "value" of these parts, like if the CPU might be a overkill for the GPU, I'm upgrading the couple soon after building. This is my first LTT forums post, so apologies in advance if this is in the wrong category. Thanks!

EDIT: RESOLVED AND FIGURED OUT!!

Get a B350 mobo

Drop 120mm AIO, not worth it

Drop aftermarket thermal paste

Where's PSU?

Maybe get cheaper RAM with same speed and cheaper keyboard

It seems compatible but seemingly out of proportion, Unless if you are a heavy content creator I would recommend a standard SATA SSD instead of PCIE. Unless if you're overclocking Maybe get a cheaper motherboard and spend the extra money on a better Ryzen like Ryzen 5's lineup.

Are you sure that you will need 16 GB of RAM?

And yes wrong subforum. Now to wait for the moderators to move it.

well you can save $65 and drop the cooler... unless you REALLY want the AIO, which i guess i can''t fault you for... probably save money on the MB as well as the R3 PROBABLY wont see SLI (a dying configuration by many reports). memory choice is solid, save some money on the OS if you can and buy your licence from kinguin.

also i approve of the use of m.2 ssd's. if you got it, might as well use it! fewer cables to route that way.

[FS][US] Corsair H115i 280mm AIO-AMD $60+shipping

The build will work, but the logic behind the selection of GPU and CPU is messing up my mind.

First of all, water cooler is stupid for Ryzen with less than 8 cores. It just doesn't produce that much heat. Even if you want RGB on the cooler I would just opt for an air cooler and replace the fan with an RGB one.

Secondly even B350 mobos have RGB options of X370 ones, so dont waste money on X370.

Thirdly the SSD is no cheaper than a Samsung 850 evo but is slower, so change that.

I myself will spend money to get the best CPU and GPU first, as RGB parts can be added later without taking things out..
