Sites that don't use google search

This was just a rage thread because you aren't working with the search engine to find results...

It works with algorithms to decide which results are most relevant based on how many people visit that result. You are able to remove certain words from a search and drastically narrow your results. And adding relevant key words (e.g. Stationery thumb tacks) will yield better results. Yes it takes a few minutes to learn how it works but being able to Google search is very handy...

10 years ago, typing thumbtacks in will get what I'm looking now. Why is Google search getting dumber by the minute?

It’s not that dumb. I could type in “small rusty robot who clean up trays and then follows a clean white robot to a ship full of overweight people and then saves a plant and returns to earth” and it would probably come up with WALL-E. I’ve done stuff like that when I remember all about something but forget what it’s called.

Because the majority of people searching for thumbtack are looking for the social media platform...

Google's getting smarter, you're just not using it properly. Obviously you shouldn't have to learn how to use it but it removes a lot of headaches like this

That's an F in the profile pic

If it was smart, it should have included both things, not just the website. At least Bing includes both of them.

Nope. I'm saying that you can type in a massive garbled misspelled sentence, and it can still spit out what you want. That's some pretty nice algorithms they got going there.

Why would you want to know about sites that aren't indexed by Google? You realize that's basically the "Deep Web", right?

So what you are saying is google now sucks at single word search? They were pretty good at it back then. And would bring up everything, not just crap from social media platforms.

Yes, I know they are not the same.

SEO. The Tumbtack site looks pretty good (user-smart Safari tries to autofill it), so they've probs got it very well optimized, and maybe even pay for ad space so it show up first. Switch to the shopping page, and all you get is real thumbtacks though.
