Is it worth selling my 1080 and waiting for Volta

I have a GTX 1080 with an EK FC1080 Nickel/Plexi with Nickel Backplate. I paid around £550 for the 1080 and bought the Waterblock/Backplate for a further £130.

Total cost was around £680.

Is it worth selling it for around £570 for it all and waiting on Volta. Its rumoured to have 16GB HBM2 and will easily outperform a 1080 SLI but i dont know when its supposed to be coming out.

If its September/October release I can go without a Gaming PC and would rather cash in on the increased price people are paying for the GPU's right now.

Dont really know when, could be later Q4 or Q1. Although I heard some saying its a Pascal refresh, so idk what to expect (haven't been looking at it really)

If it were me selling it I would wait. Even though cards are selling new for high prices I havent heard a ton about people buying used ones for more than they could buy a cheaper variant of a new one. Even if you get slightly less money later on I think it will be worth it to wait there is no reason to rush

I remember more than one person who sold off a 980 Ti because the RX 480 was going to be "VR-ready" for $200.

 

How'd that work out for them?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I have always said, and will continue to do so, CES 2018 for volta launch

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

i have a 4k monitor and need to hit 60fps in all games Ultra and my GTX 1080 isnt enough even though its OC to 2.1ghz.

I found the issue. With 4K, you can lower to medium or high without much degradation.

Most likely will have GDDR6 even for the next Titan card. HBM is used for their Tesla GPUs (V100 chips)
