Help choosing 1440p ultrawide

Principis

Hi

I'm planning to buy a 4k ultrawide 34" monitor but I don't know which one.

I have GTX 1080

I was thinking about the LG 34UC99 but it doesn't have G-sync. But if the monitor is much better than other ones, I don't mind.

These are the ones I know but other suggestions are welcome.

  • LG 34UC99
  • Acer Predator Z35P (although I'm not a fan of Acer and it's VA...)
  • Acer Predator X34A
  • Asus ROG swift PG348Q

Thanks in advance. :)

Edit:

Maybe a Dell? U3417W for example.

I don't know which is the best.

The monitor is not for gaming. I am going to game on it but it's mostly for productivity (programming). I have a FHD cheap Samsung monitor atm and it's terrible to read small text.

None of those are 4k ultrawide, they're 1440p ultrawide :P except the LG one which is a standard 4k monitor.

The LG is not a standard 4k monitor :)

But thanks I changed the topic.

It is, the resolution of it comes under 4k rather than 4k "ultrawide". though it is 21:9 so it kind of counts as ultrawide.

All the monitors I mentioned are the same resolution, aren't they?

3440x1440 curved ultrawide?

If you are not doing tons of colour accurate work, VA's are much nicer to look at imo. No IPS glow and better contrast.

Acer x34 and the Asus ROG PG348Q are actually the exact same panel just different branded, thereafter either will provide you identical performance, both are 100hz g-sync and all, so pick the one you find prettier or cheaper.

why?

Why would someone like IPS more?

The better color accuracy and viewing angles just make for an overall better viewing experience.

It comes at a price higher than TN panels so it has to be worth it to you.

Thank you for responding.

I'm going to buy the LG 34UC99.

The Asus and Acer are too expensive over here.

  • 3 weeks later...

Most ultrawides are sold out everywhere so I'm doubting again. (The problem is, there is no store where I can look at them)

What's the difference between cheaper and more expensive monitors?

For example the LG 34UC88-B vs the 34UC99

And the difference between older and newer lg's for example 34UC98 and 34UC99

I'm not going to use USB-C, just displayport.

The acer and Asus mentioned earlier are way too expensive. (and I don't like the gamer design)

I was thinking about the Dell U3417W because it's Dell.
