There are spam filter, apparently it's their day off. And it's an odd time here in LTT too as most are asleep

Nuking them is easy, we have an option to flag a user as a spammer, when we do, they automatically get banned and all their threads and replies get hidden

 

After that, we do bulk move to the Spam section (yes we have a spammer section!!!)

Cool! It would be a massive pain to delete everything at once. Do you know why they spam you though? Just to be a pain, or trying to do something sneaky?

It's where they go to kill the usernames, like in Inglorious Bastards, they all circle around and get the second highest ranking mod to kill it

Nah, they are usually just spamming to drive clicks to some website.

When done on big websites, search engine crawlers can index those quite quickly and so doing a research will bring more result, their goal is really to spread their spam everywhere hoping some place will be slower to remove it and having a chance to show up on a search result to bring traffic their way.

 

So they're after people searching for what they advertise, not the users of the forum they spam.

Oh. My dad may have been able to make some sense of it (he learned Korean years ago in the military). IDK how much Korean he remembers though. He'd also not fall for something so dumb, considering he worked a lot with computers and classified projects and stuff...
