Can i put different ram brands together ?

My friend wants to upgrade his ram. He has some basic kingston ddr3 without heatsink. Can he put different brand stick ?

Bit risky if you ask me. I bought some non descript ram from Maplin and it screwed my pc up and even after taking it out it wasnt the same. Just be super careful to make sure it will work by matching it.

Yes. The ram will just run at the lowest settings of the slowest ram in his computer.

I doubt anything will light on fire. The usual case would be all stick running at the slowest common speed and the middle ground between these would be RAM that doesn't work together but since you ordered it online you can just returned it within 14 days, at least that is how it works here(germany).
