It's to provide extra power for the USB ports

You need to plug power into that, otherwise it will not work OR not work correctly under some circumstances.

I think that's only required if you plan on using the USB hubs (Not like this thing boosts audio volume like audio cards). If you buy this only for the audio jack then you can leave this molex unplugged.

Ok, from what you guys said then there should be no problem if i just plug the molex here, it will not cause any short circuit since it is a power support for the board if i want to use stuff like usb hub

Thx for the answer guys, appreciate it

Guys, so I bought this front panel board that include speaker out, mic in, and  2x USB 2.0 (please ignore the USB 3.0 on the pic, this is china made)

Since this panel doesn't come with any manual, I want to ask if anyone knows what is that molex-like connector on the back of the board?

What is it use for?

How do I use it?

Thanks for your answers

I just don't see how that's a usb 3.0 port, when the circuit board has a 2 x usb 2.0 header on it.

It looks more like someone combined the metal case for one model with usb 3  with the circuit board for 2 x usb 2.0 ports.

I think that's only required if you plan on using the USB hubs (Not like this thing boosts audio volume like audio cards). If you buy this only for the audio jack then you can leave this molex unplugged.
