Can't get my monitor to run at 60fps

FNik

I've installed Windows 10, and I can't seem to get my monitor to run to 60 fps. I've reinstalled the drivers multiple times, when I change on the display adapter properties the Screen refresh rate from 59 Hertz to 60 Hertz it turns back to 640x480 and it runs at 60 fps, but if I change it to any other resolution, it reverts back to 30 fps. I've updated my Monitor drivers also. AMD Crimson is missing the options to change the refresh rate or resolution, and it won't allow me to create a custom resolution.
Edit: I am currently running it 2560x1440p until my GTX 1080 arives. And also it worked perfectly on Win 8.1 few days ago.

You won't be able to run 4K at 60Hz on anything 290/x? and earlier via HDMI. You're stuck with 4K @ 30Hz. Though as I recall you could get a DP to HDMI adapter that supports HDMI 2.0 and that'd work, but I have no idea if ol Tahiti can even do that.

Like it said I'm running at 2560x1440 and it worked perfectly on Win 8.1
Every resolution that is not 640x480 runs at 30 fps

Your image you linked shows you trying to set it to 4k 60fps.

Have you tried downloading the latest GPU drivers and doing a clean install?

I am unable to change anything on that picture and it's completely missing the option for me to change the resolution and refresh rate like in this video below.

I did a clean install , used display driver uninstaller just in case.

I'VE MADE IT WORK.

There is a list all modes button, and set it to 1440p 60fps

  • 2 years later...

on macOS maybe try the instructions here: https://tomachi.co/60fps-2560x1440-resolution-aoc-u2868-macos/

First just type in cscreen at the terminal to get the ID of your monitor, in my case 78ca19c6:

cscreen
DisplayID Index Depth Width Height Refresh
78ca19c6 1 32 2560 1440 60
use -h to display all usage options
➜ ~

Then issue the command again, this time with the monitor unique ID and the parameters:

cscreen -d 32 -x 2560 -y 1440 -r 60 -i 78ca19c6
➜ ~

Swap 78ca19c6 for the value of your own monitor.

I intend to go look for that “list all modes button” on my machine.  I have also had a problem with a 1440p monitor.  You have given me hope.  Thankyou :)

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
