1080p gaming card?

looking to find a card for 1080p gaming max all settings almost every game. any suggestions?

You need a GTX 1080 if you're planning games like The Witcher 3, Watch Dogs 2 and so on.

 

If you're okay with not actually max all settings then the GTX 980ti ~ GTX 1070 are the best cards for it.

 

GTX 1060 is a "budget friendly" playable 1080p card, it doesn't get any where near close maxing out every thing in most recent AAA titles.

my 1070 can't max out some games at 1080p, but the difference between high/ultra, and acutally max, is so small that you can't notice. some settings needlessly take extra power, and give nearly nothing in return.

 

hell, I can't even max out overwatch with the max resolution scale, but obviously I can with 1.0 resolution scaling.

Exactly this, people should be a bit more "literal" and stop saying GTX 1060 for 1080p without actually reading OP's wish for max settings, either they explain the differences are small like this video does it perfectly:

 

 

Or they advise the actual card capable of such, the 1080.

My 480 can run witcher 3 at max settings, 50-60fps average.

I'm fairly sure we already argued this before, you can't say that because it doesn't feature a bunch of nVidia only settings that are very demanding.

And i'm not entirely sure, but it looks to me like the nvidia hair works settings also works on AMD cards. So that makes one nvidia only setting.

 

Left is with it off, right is with it on, 8x hair AA and high hair detail

Kinda glad you mentioned the Nvidia only settings, cause i'd never actually tested to see if hairworks makes a difference with an AMD card, so that showed me something new
