[Guide] Mining Ethereum

Is there a known bug with changing the saved location in Ethereum Wallet?

No matter which other folders I choose, that big 24gb folder ends up installing to my C: drive when i clearly choose a folder on my D: Drive, bit of a pain as there isn't enough room on my C drive to download it all to there.

You'd have to reinstall the wallet's location or add a link to the location.

What OC do you have on your Fury? My fury nitro with an oc (1115 core, -15% power (upping power to even 50 doesnt change), and 85 temp limit) only gets 31.

1150 MHz core, 545.45 MHz mem, +25% power limit (so it can draw up to 375 W but it's not hitting that doing this)

I've never tried to move it using the installer, I would just make a symlink

Isn't mining with an OC very counterproductive? takes much more power for very little gain.

You need to OC the memory as well. Eth is very mem-intensive.

Power doesn't increase unless you increase the power limit and voltage.

not neccecarily.

just because a card's TDP is 150W, doesn't mean it will use the full 150W when mining.

however, you can OC to make it use up to 150W without upping power or voltage limits.

but if you're OC'ing without changing the power or voltage limits, I can see how that might be beneficial

my 1070 is set to 60% power. if i set it to 100% power, my wattage goes up 40 watts and I get absolutely no benefit in the amount of Sol/s produced. however, by overclocking the RAM 600mhz, (4404MHz DDR5) i see very large Sol/s benefits with very little extra power.

OC the GPU is not productive, but OC the RAM... now that's another story.

Oh man, thank you for sharing this! I just did the same with my 1070 and yeah, that makes a big difference. Lower temps, lower power consumption, but with the same or even slightly higher Mh/s rate. :D

Only pulling about 90-91w now and sitting at 45*C. Nice!

Can somebody help me with my .bat file?

I am getting the same problem:
This pool (etc-eu1.nanopool.org) does not support Ethereum addresses as login (or requires worker name in "Login.Worker" format) and cannot be used for devfee mining, therefore it is not supported.
However, you can mine on this pool if you specify "-allpools 1" option, default pools (different from this pool) will be used for devfee.

My bat file is:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0

setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool us1.ethermine.org:4444 -ewal 0x867f303B6c83d74494a2ABd30b8D91095294583B.Mochi -epsw x -allpools 1 -dpool  stratum+tcp://us-west.siamining.com:7777 -dwal b223f4c151a015b9d39ba3757a065a3a8311ebdc1a23e239410cd51aac0b4c777fa44b28dc85 -dcoin sia

The odd thing is that it was working fine a few days ago, now I always get this error. I haven't changed anything.

Looks like you're trying to do dual mining which I have not attempted yet, so sorry, no ideas :(

Every card is different, and might hit a wall much sooner or later.  Generally the overclock is only worth it so long as you don't need to push more voltage, but it could be worth a try just to see what happens.

How about for single mining? I've tried both and neither work. I've even tried just straight up copying other peoples .bat files that they say work and I get the same error. I've been trying to figure this out for 15 hours, it's driving me nuts.

I'll have to check my BAT file, but i don't believe the -allpools follows the -epsw x

I havent had any issues with anyone who's directly copied the bat file I provided (putting your real address in of course) so I would start there and see what happens

If anyone is trying to exchange to usd, don't use cex.io, the debit card withdrawal isn't in almost any states and the fee for bank transfer is 50 dollars. I learned this the hard way and just decided to exchange the usd I got for bitcoin but I lost like 5 dollars in the process.

The Bitcoin network fee is extremely high right now as well so you're better off just using an exchange that does ETH to USD directly.

ETH to USD exchangers usually take massive cuts for themselves though. It's still cheaper to go ETH to BTC to USD.

Meh, depends on the exchange and how much you're exchanging at once.

btw, on that topic I will still be adding a part about how to convert to cash and/or bitcoin but I want to try it for myself before I recommend it to anyone else, and since the price is really down at the moment, I won't be converting anytime soon so it's going to be delayed longer than I expected.

I see everyone is mining ETH now :P

I think I'll go cry in my bed as I had mined 20 eth a year ago and sold all of em for $12 a piece (F********************************KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK)

Anyway, I just wanted to state how you could also maybe use online wallets...I mean I used ethereumwallet.com when I did mine em and I never had any issues plus its still up so it must mean something :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...
