Any idea as to why they are using 2 substrates?

Best guess would be to allow for the easy adaptation of KBL into the LGA-2066 socket.

That's the thing tho, Kabylake-X DOESN'T have 2 substrates, only Skylake-X has o.O

Interesting.  Must be where they are hiding the greatness that makes it perform high in single and mutli-threading.  Maybe they realized to takes two PCBs to reach that, until now, unobtainable goal.  xD

Yeah, that's because Broadwell-E needed 2 PCBs just to convince buyers that they were getting something more then they would have if they would have just bought Haswell-E.  The extra PCB was added to lower the overclock headroom.

In fairness, it's also a bit douchey of Intel to charge such a premium just because they could/can. I'm not saying they shouldn't have charged people up the ass for minimal improvements -- after all, they are a business with the intention of making as much money as possible, but by that same logic you're also a consumer with the intention of saving as much money as possible.

Why was Hexxus doing a cpu test at 1440p with a GTX 1080? It would make more sense to use a 1080 Ti at 1080p to keep the gpu from ever being a bottleneck in their gaming tests. As it stands their gaming test is worthless.

when there's a legit competition nearby offers performance at half the price & they still wanna play with those price range

So rather insignificant then :) just seeing a lot of AVX-512 being banded around as a vital feature and wondered what it was useful for :)

Regarding the OP (the post not you):

- Yeah 10 cores beat 8 who'd a guessed it?

- No mention of Thermals so i'm guessing it ran warm

- Single core as expected (but you would be mad to spend this much on a cpu if you intend to do single core tasks)

- Multi core nothing to write home about marginally better than the 6950X

Need to wait for threadripper to compare results, comparing to an 8 core is a waste of time (even though you could buy 3 8 core R7 systems (mobo + cpu) for the cost of this 1 cpu :P

generally tho. The n00b tools make it easy.

No, I said, for most people :D But most people don't buy HEDT CPUs. Many programs that are useful to people buying such CPUs can use AVX :)
