This mobo for F@H rig?

Go to solution Solved by Ithanul,

^ Agree, rock the risers.

They go by the name of PCI Express Adapter 1x to 16x extender.  Should be pretty easy to find since miners use them as well.

Just keep enough threads available if running Nvidia cards.

Hey everyone,

I thought about getting this on the cheap: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P

https://geizhals.de/gigabyte-ga-970a-ds3p-a940744.html?hloc=de

looks like I could run up to 5 cards on this board?

The idea would be to pair this with my old 1055t and 8 gigs of ram.

what do you guys think?

calling our extreme folders here @Ithanul @tobben @Whaler_99

Thanks in advance!

No, can't run 5 cards.

Looks like 2 cards that fit in PCIE x16 slots and 2 really old GPUs.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

wouldn't I be able to run 3 more cards with a 1x to 16x riser?

The thing is that F@H is REALLY bandwidth dependent while mining is not. That's why 1x will decrease your ppd a lot. I wouldn't recommend it.
