When is more ram necessary? I am constantly at high 70% like usually 74% sometimes even as high as 78%, so clearly I'm not using it all, would buy 8 more gigs be worth the huge price tag of 50$ right now with how expensive ram is? I wanted to get faster ram but my mobo only supports 2133 and with a non-K CPU there's little to no reason to buy a better motherboard except for faster ram support.

As long you have some left everything is fine.

If you need more RAM, I'd suggest going with 16GB of faster RAM (say around 2800 or 3000MHz). And yes, Intel benefits in much the same way as Ryzen.

Yeah but he is at 70%... way before the point the pagefile will be full. There is no real benefit of getting more ram even if there is stuff in pagefile. So what? It most likely will be some random program that doens't require it. aslong there is ram for chrome/games he won't notice any performance issues.

Intel doesn't benefit as much from ram as AMD and is just like a couple years ago. It doens't matter. The reason it is important on ryzen is because the CCX design heavily relies on memory and cache and higher speed means higher bandwidth between cores.

Also while you guys are here, do you think a 212 would be a worthy upgrade to my PC to increase the longevity of my 6700? I made a post about this before " How hot is too hot " and it got to 99c while testing it, but it doesn't go above 75c while gaming and streaming, so some people say it's fine, but will 75c be a comfortable temp in the long run?

be quiet! Dark Rock or Pure Rock would be better.

75C for normal use is great! Lower the better, but as long as it doesn't go over 85C (my personal threshold), it's fine.

Stuff is being shuffled in to pagefile well before 70% of your ram is used. Do you even know what the pagefile is? It's a memory partition on a storage device, those are magnitudes slower than ram. Even on an SSD you'll notice if you're pulling something from the pagefile vs ram, and if you have more ram (so less is getting shoved in to the pagefile) programs will be more responsive. I've done enough multitasking where I'm using programs that are saving contents in the pagefile, you'll notice pretty fuckin' quick when you click on something and it freezes.

Nothing seems to freeze when I click it, it loads as fast as it should I guess for an SP900, not the fastest SSD but its surely faster then my HDD. I think I'm fine on ram for now.

I certainly know what pagefiling is. I get that it may cause some slow downs but windows should be prioritizing games and heavy tasks for RAM and slow programs for Pagefile. It is not worth the 50$. There is still RAM left so it is not crucial, he's got a old system so if he upgrades his system he will need to get DDR4, depending on when he upgrades it could only be a short while with no real world benefit that is worth 50$.

Open the Resource Monitor, go to the RAM tab and follow the "hard fault/second" indicator. You can't really have constant zero hard faults in Windows, but you should see some scattered, small peaks only. If you see more like a constant high level, your PC is "paging" too much, and more RAM will alleviate it.

Monitor these things while gaming, and also monitor CPU and GPU usage, as well as temperatures, so you can check what's behind the stutters, if any.
