Are haswell still worth nowadays?

So I found an intel i5-4690 for $165 (used, including stock cooler of course), and I believe it's gonna be more powerful than a FX system.

And there's someone selling a DDR3 Haswell System, the parts are:

1. i5-4690

2. Asus Maximus VI Gene

3. Corsair Vengeance Pro RED 2x4GB 2400MHz

For $349 and I already have a LGA 775 System that I didn't upgrade it yet, should I upgrade to that bundle everyone?

Thank you community!

Had to look closely at your avatar @valdyrgramr, because I was wondering what the blowj*b (not fuc*) was going on. But seems to be a mic.

On topic: depending on price, lots of things are worth it. Maybe even worth it to sell as scrap metal.

Oh yeah I forgot to say that Vengeance Pro is a DDR3 RAM. And I am thinking to get GTX 1070 later

Ok dude, the motherboard is micro atx so I can fit it in my atx case (my last motherboard was micro atx too)

Doesn't make sense to get the Z chipset because you don't have k sku so you might as well save some money by going H87/97 unless you find a 4670/90k or 4770/90k down the line. Otherwise everything else is fine.

I'd go for it if you feel like repurposing or flipping the old rig.

There are advantages to a Z-chipset besides overclocking. RAM can be faster, I/O is generally more plentiful, and PCIe slots are more balanced.

I can't find the H87/97 yet, if yes there's MSI B85. Besides I can give an upgrade later too

The 4690 is a beast for what it was on release.

Still a great CPU and results from the typical 4 threaded games are great, the 8 thread games show obvious differences.

My GTX970 OC & GTX980ti both kept their gpu usage at the typical 97-100% in over 30 titles.

Worthy... absolutely.

For the right price.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Totally agree. that's my Redstone build and its still rocking along, once I got some decent WC on it will start cranking the CPU.

@OP Yeah man, Hell even my i7-3770 is going great, just have to pair them with the right GPU so you not wasting money and getting bottlenecks but once thats sorted you will have a decent system.

From 3rd-7th gen the only real improvements were efficiency with slight boosts here and there but if you gaming/hobby content creation you'll be good with the i5-4690.

Redstone:
i7-4770 / Z97 / GTX 980 / Corsair 16GB  / H90 / 400C / Antec EDGE / Neutron GTX240 / Intel 240Gb / WD 2TB / BenQ XL24

Obsidian:

MSI GE60 2PE i7-4700HQ / 860M / 12GB / WE 1TB / m.Sata 256gb/Elagto USB HD Capture Card

Razer Deathadder Chroma / Razer Blackwidow TE Chroma / Kingston Cloud2's / Sennheiser 429 / Logitech Z333

Depending on how you've got your editing software configured, the higher bandwidth of 1080 comes into play.

The 1080 is a good choice alongside the 1070. Choose the one that's in your budget and matches your aesthetic.
