Accelero Twin Turbo II and MSI RX 580 Armor Compatibility

Megah3rtz

Let's be blunt, the cooling on the card I just purchased sucks, alot. I got exactly what I deserved xD (70-85c @ 75-85% fan speed with horrendous noise) when I bought the cheapest card I could find.

To have nearly everything in my build dead silent and then a very hot and noisy GPU is killing me.

But that doesn't mean I have to put up with it, does it?

In the compatibility (every one I've seen so far) these coolers are only meant to fit the reference design. " The compatibility list is based on AMD Radeon and NVIDIA's reference board layout only "

I'm not expecting it to fit, but I don't know at all what to look for.

I might try and replace the thermal paste for better temps, but the noise even at 50% fanspeed is really bad.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Maybe even a different cooler, or solution?

depending if you want to set up a custom water cooling loop you could do that :P

either that or look on ebay for people selling their old shrouds that they have removed so they could water cool, they might fit and offer you better cooling

Not especially looking to spend that much money just to get satisfaction from one part.

I sent in an email to Arctic to see if I could get a definite answer, sucess!

Dear redacted,

Thank you for your enquiry and interest in ARCTIC Graphics Card Cooler.

Accelero Twin Turbo II is compatible with this card but Accelero Twin Turbo III cannot as it is compatible with standard PCB width of 98mm only.

Have a nice day.

Best regards,
Justin H.

You need to understand, those people who sent you those emails at arctic usually doesn't have a clue what they are doing other than read off their compatibility list sheet.

What you need to figure out is the screw locations and does it align with your card.

If it does align, then you are likely set to go.

I had a old 760gtx from asus, and i can say for certain it was not supposed to fit the arctic accelero iv i used, but i managed it by ditching the backplate and simply went ahead with the installation.

Their coolers are designed with alot of different screws in mind, so from my experience, its very unlikely it won't fit.

Do a gaming X cooler on it?

All of them?

Align with the cooler, or a reference card?

if you can match the screw holes on the cooler with the ones on your specific card them you are good.

it doesn't need to be a reference card.

check google for pics, that's what i did.

the card pcb has a square outline covering the chip so its quite easy to see if it will match the cooler.

take off the cooler on your card, then near the core, there should be a outline of a square as you can see down below.

As far as i know, AMD hasn't changed the size of that box outline for years.

at 100% fanspeed it stays at about 65-70c.

this is during gameplay though, not stress tests. I'll do a firestrike score later if you'd like. you could compare my stock 580 against your overclocked 480 :P
