Assassin's Creed 4 producer says PC optimisation isn't important

Assassin's Creed producer says it is not important with PC optimization because we still only replace hardware if the game does not work.

 

"The new platforms are a lot closer to PC, so my engineers could do the R&D on PC and we knew it would work fairly easily on next-gen platforms. It needed to be adapted, but everything does."

"It's always a question of compromise about the effect, how it looks, and the performance it takes from the system. On PC, usually you don't really care about the performance, because the idea is that if it's not [running] fast enough, you buy a bigger GPU. Once you get on console, you can't have this approach."

 

What do you think abut this ?

omfg, HOW does this guy become a producer! pc isnt important, wait in 3 years when they 'll all be crawling to the PC side and saying they have been trying to get the PC side more popular....

The games about Pirates, the devs don't care, its Ubisoft *derp*...... so I will take those steps and Pirate the game thank you. Im not paying for a game that the devs don't care about the user.

How far does this guy honestly have his own head up his own arse?, if your game runs like shit on PC, they will complain, period. A properly optimised game is wonderful compared to a badly optimised and ported game, also, haven't all the AC games been poorly optimised?

You know, he does have a point. And isn't this what we end up doing anyway? If our rig can't run a game the way we want it to, we buy newer, better hardware in order to achieve what we want it to do. To say that pc optimization is not needed, is just losing sales because people with lower end systems can't play the game.
