i7 Non-OVC or i5 OVC?

Hello there!

In my country, for the same amount of money (+- €705) I can build either a system with:

- i5-7600k + BeQuiet! Pure Rock Slim + MSI Z270-A

or

- i7-7700 + MSI B250M Pro-VD

I am an ESPORTS gamer who wants to stream and record his gameplay, but my rig is mainly focused on gaming. Though I don't really see a benefit in overclocking and I think the i7 would be more worth it without overclocking. I use 8GB's of RAM. Which of those 2 setups would you recommend me?

I think if you can match the i7 performance by overclocking the i5, then get the i5. if no, get the i7

stream and record then defo an i7 no doubt, the extra threads will benefit you much more than overclocking an i5

Thank you all for the comments! Really appeciate it. I guess it's gonna be the i7 then.

Don't want no Ryzen 5, singe core is too bad.

Edit: Actually hold on, since I'm playing titles that aren't too hard to run, I should be fine with somethig like a Ryzen 5 1400 right? It can be overclocked and has as many threads as the i7. Does streaming/recording require fast, individual single core speeds or not?

Why exactly? Ryzen 5 is overclockable, has 6 cores (which is 2 more) and performance is similar to an i5 7600k in gaming

And winning even overclockable i7 7700k in content creation

Ye I was just thinking about it. Is the 1600 worth it over the 1400 though? I don't think streaming uses more than 8 threads or am I wrong here? I mean, until now professional streamers / content creators have always used core i7's right?

for straming you want more cores, and something like a 1700 or 1600 is much better than a i7 7700

the question really is between a ryzen 5 1600 and the i7 7700, ignore all the rest especially the i5's

Don't forget even if one application doesn't use all your cores it doesn't mean they are useless as your other programs will have cores that are free to be used by for example your game

yes they have 6 or 8 core i7 :P the 1600 is the best choice and amd have had overwatch and dota 2 very well optimised recently. dota went from 120 to about 200fps so that should be plenty.
