Is the r5 1500x good value? Or should I save my money and get a 1400?

1500 and 1400 are all quad core, so the 1500 is just a higher speed quad core, save up for a 1600 or just get a 1400, though check how much Intel i5 costs cause 1400 is just poorly performing against a 7600k for example

7600k is more expensive. Maximum I can get it a 1500x

Just to add one point, 1400 has half the cache of 1500X, although it's not that important in games

I'm not editing, only gaming. From the benchmarks I've seen, I can't justify spending an extra 30 for like 5 fps.

I also suggest 1600 if you can still wait for a bit and save more to buy it. 1500x is not a bad choice either. It was just wasted opportunity to get a 6core than 4cores. Just saying.

In three years, will games use all six cores twelve threads?

My first thoughts on building a pc is just to game and didnt want to record and edit in the first place. But there comes a time when i play and record my games and edit it so I just concluded you might do the same.

Some use 6-8 threads today. Running them in 6 cores is better than running them in 4.

But if all you care about is gaming, the money saved on those 2 cores may provide a higher benefit if invested in the GPU.

Think of it this way.  The extra threads will nearly always be useful, Now and far into the future.  The gpu can be upgraded to a next gen 2060 or equivalent, 1070 perf for $300 in all likelihood. 

 

Gpu's are probably the easiest thing to upgrade.

I'd do it.  570 plays really well at 1080p and even ultrawide/1440p

I just checked the prices of 1500x and 1600 here and on amazon and the price difference of 1500x and 1600 is just 28$ and when I checked on amazon its about 50$+ ish.

IMO, yes.  A cheapo entry level card will outperform the 570 in 1 or 2 generations anyways and the 570 will be going strong well until you can get a rx670/680/770/780 or equivalent.

 

My guess is that the RX 760 Will outperform a 1060/580
