Anyone know this cable?

The Robot

Not sure if this is the correct thread for this topic, but nevertheless I will share my issue with you. I was going through the wiring in my vehicle when I came across a strange cable that was not connected to anything and I did not see a location to connect it to. I was wondering if anyone happened to know what kind of cable it is and what it does. Thanks.

yep, thats proprietary alright.... does the cable have any extra marking on it, written on the plastic or embedded into it? that will help us identify it...

Where did you find it? Looks like it would plug behind the head unit somewhere.

Looks like some form of co ax cable. Those things tend to carry signal from an aerial or from an audio head unit

I found it right underneath the center console between the seats.

Is there anything that doesn't work? That's the fastest way to find where it goes.

To my knowledge everything works, I just wanted to know what the cable does as it is taking up a lot of space underneath the plastic cover. Additionally if I am not getting an extra functionality out of my car I would like to know. The problem is that I dont see anywhere that the cable can go to.

Could just be a cable they put in incase a buyer decides to have some option installed. Honestly if everything works fine then I wouldn't worry about it.

I would agree that is the most likely option. My car came pre-wired for fog-lights.

imho it looks like it powers something - maybe GPS as mentioned above

What I would try is to unscrew that panel and see where the cable goes, this is what I did with our Opel Corsa, we had bought it second-hand from one guy who was like Opel representative, and the car even has charger for sattelite phone :D but also I found cable that wasnt connected to anything, and I pulled radio out (cable went there) and looked inside and it turned out that it was a cable to power up GPS (there were some markings, but it was some kind of old, weird brand of GPS),

so I just took isolation tape, cut the cable, isolate it, and tape it behind the radio. Now it's hidden for like half a year, and nothing broke, car battery is working alright, everythings fine.

So don't worry and ride on! :)
