Do you expect a 1080ti and/or 1080 pricedrop when vega drops?

DeWun

I'm kind of done waiting for VEGA. The only thing really keeping me from just getting a 1080ti is a possible like 100-150 euro price drop for the 1080ti. Is this a real concern or very unlikely?

Maybe about 10-50 dollars drop maybe? 1080 Ti is a BEAST.

As much as I want vega to rip the 1080ti and volta, its unlikley considering the performance that volta is capable of

At least they did it a little bit when they dropped the 1080Ti. I went from being able to afford a 1060 3GB to a 1060 6GB (both MSI Gaming X models).

Yeah but that was because they released a product themselves and wanted the 1080 to be sold and wanted the pricing to make sense, lowering prices due to competition isn't really a thing I see them doing any time soon, even intel only lowered their prices slightly after seeing ryzen

They dropped the MSRP of the GTX 780 from $650 to $500 when the R9 290X came out. I remember it because I bought my 780 a few months earlier...

Hmm interesting, but that was one month before the 780ti came out, so maybe they were just preparing for the 780ti launch and killing 2 birds with one stone?

Won't happen, 1080Ti is still king of the hill if we ignore the titan lineup.

Unlikely, it doesn't depend on vega but rather on how much people are willing to pay for it. As long as its sales are high it won't drop in price.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Come on guys we all no that Vega preformance is going to be behind the gtx 1080ti and the gtx1080 if we go on past preformance gains from AMD over Nvidia.

Dam if i was a betting man i would bet my life saving on it lol.

I doubt we'll see any more Pascal price drops until retailers start emptying inventory to make room for Volta.

I've never seen a Radeon card being faster than Nvidia, cheaper yes, but always just not good enough, almost like by design.

I don’t think we can expect any sort of drastic price drop in 1070 to 1080ti until cryptocurrency value drops. Miners are buying up large amounts of gpu stock and driving the price up by hundreds of dollars in some cases. The 1070 has gone up around $125 since June or thereabouts and the same can be said for 1060. The solution is either to wait or fight fire with fire and mine yourself.
