ok im hoping some one can help me im looking to buy a 32gig optan drive that linus mentions below.  will this work with my Rampage V Edition 10 Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 EATX Motherboard only the fact that he say's it only works with a 200 series mother boards throwing me off shorly it would work with any modern mother board that has a m.2 slot ? and if it works with a modern intell board then shorly it will work with a amd4 mother board aswell witch im also wanting one for.  im a little lost on what would allow it to work  on some mother boards and not on others so can some one please explain it to me

it is basically a preparatory intel SSD Cache so it only works on it supported platforms.

You need a 7th gen Kaby Lake CPU in a 200 series motherboard, so not something that will work in your boards sadly.

 

(also, the section you posted in is for tech news and reviews, this should have really been posted to the CPU, motherboard and memory sub)

If you have a X99 motherboard why would you want Optane? You should already have an SSD and an SSD + Optane was shown to not really make that big of a difference.

Not supported on X99, just use an SSD if its for storage on high end systems.

Though i'd be really interested in using one as RAM
