The standard forum layout is better for linear conversations; Reddit's system is better for nonlinear discussions. Things like general advice threads are great on Reddit since quality responses will rise to the top (and off-topic discussions can be easily hidden), while things like build logs and guides work better on a forum.

 

You can definitely build community here that you can't on Reddit, but the signal to noise ratio is going to be worse as well.

So the reply system in LTT is pretty good, but i think it would work better if it were closer to reddits.

That system is good for posts with a lot of replies and where the user only wants to see the top few comments. This forum is mostly for helping and talking with people so while in a few threads, a Reddit like system would work, the current system is better. It let's all comments be seen and makes conversation easier.

NO! Reddit is one of the worst looking sites. Endless scrolling of confusing comments. Awful! It also looks like it was made in 2008

Just keeping this here as a The standard forum layout is better for linear conversations; Reddit's system is better for nonlinear discussions. Things like general advice threads are great on Reddit since quality responses will rise to the top (and off-topic discussions can be easily hidden), while things like build logs and guides work better on a forum.

 

You can definitely build community here that you can't on Reddit, but the signal to noise ratio is going to be worse as well.

I second this strongly, I find Reddit unbearable to use. In very rare instances, I'll be looking up an opinion on a topic and the top Google search result will have some educated guy who, wrote a hell of a post about the said topic. That is one of the only times I use Reddit lol.

 Teah that one, i liked the way it behave, how it worked. This "new" one is like a picture that you can write in, it even behaves like one. 
Its less flexible for my usage.
How do i delete a quote? how do i copy a quote? with the old one i just marked it like any text and pressed my buttons.

Depending on your browser, you can click the quote header or the move handle that appears when you hover over it, then backspace/delete/ctrl+c/etc, and it should work as expected.

reddit is terrible and while I don't like IPS4 and I'd prefer something older like IPS3, reddit is trash and any traditional forum system is better for a true community, if you'd even call LTT that. 

 

I hate things like reddit that become popular simply because people get used to a bad system and look to other things to have it. There's nothing wrong with reddit existing on its own, but it shouldn't set standards. 

 

It's also trash for smaller communities or large communities that you want to break up into smaller discussion segments.

I grew up on these linear forums, and love them.

 

I also love reddit, but not for the posts work, but by the sheer amount of random content and information I can find there.

 

With that being said, I'd prefer to keep LTT forums as it is :)
