LG 34CB88-P 34" IPS Curved UltraWide

007vsMagua

I've been looking at what's available for 34" 1440p IPS curved ultrawide monitors and everything has been priced beyond my means. Recently the LG 34CB88-P popped up on my radar and I decided to jump. The monitor is listed in LG's commercial monitor section for $1,761.99, but I just ordered one from Newegg for $629.99 with 10% off promo code.

The LG 34CB88-P is also being listed at a number of other major online retail outlets with a price ranging from $700 and up. I have not found any reviews on this monitor but I'm willing to take a chance.

I'm a casual gamer and this monitor offers Freesync and 75Hz. I'm going to be using the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 iCX that I also just ordered from Newegg and will try that card with this monitor. If it's not enough I can always use EVGA's Step-Up program and upgrade my card. The monitor also comes with a 3-year limited warranty.

You might want to consider waiting for vega tho, considering that it has freesync.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Almost all QHD panels are LG, including my Predator X34 (needed for 100hz and Gsync). These are very high quality panels and you will not be disappointed in your purchase in the least.

The monitor you bought has a "quickcharge" USB 3.0 port, great for your cell phone at the desk type of aesthetic. If you were truly able to get this monitor for so cheap, good on you.

The monitor is essentially LG's commercial production version of the 34UC88-P, which is why you can't find any reviews on it, here is the review from TechRadar: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/lg-34uc88-monitor

LG was able to competitively price the monitor since doesn't have Gsync or a Thunderbolt port.

Enjoy the monitor!

Thanks for the very encouraging reply. I just received a mail from Newegg that a FedEx tag has been issued. Thanks again for the review link and will look at it now.

Take Care Mate,

I'm going to receive my GTX 1070 FTW2 on Tuesday and my new LG 34CB88-P on Wednesday. I'm hoping that I will be able to turn Freesync off and still run this monitor at 75Hz...I don't know. It seems possible this monitor can be overclocked...again I don't know.

Why turn off Freesync? Adaptive sync of framerate cannot hurt you in any way even if you are running always maxing frame counts. However, it helps with certain inefficiently coded games that have dips in frames as they load assets. You don't see the dip as easily with adaptive syncs since your monitor only displays rendered frames and slows its refresh to match.

As I'm not using an AMD GPU there is no point in leaving Freesync enabled. I've been able to use the Nvidia Control Panel to overclock my monitor to 80Hz and I've set the Framerate Limit in Precision XOC to 84 FPS. I also set Vertical Sync in the Nvidia Control Panel to "Fast" and everything seems to be running fine. I've also disabled in-game vSync in all the games I've tested so far.
