Posted April 13, 2017 It depends on what you use your PC for, if you are building a gaming PC, you should get the 1600 (non X) and a better GPU. If you are building a PC for editing, the 1700 is a no brainer CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32 Mice: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Logitech G Pro Wireless, Razer Viper Ultimate, Zowie S1 Divina Blue, Zowie FK1-B Divina Blue, Logitech G Pro (3366 sensor), Glorious Model O, Razer Viper Mini, Logitech G305, Logitech G502, Logitech G402
 Posted April 13, 2017 1700 for streaming, content creation, and gaming on games that make use of CPU core/thread count. Ryzen 1600x for the same thing but not so intensive and easier on the budget. But i beleive all of the reviews so far say that the 1600 OCs to the same 4.0 as the 1600x. Just something to consider.
 R7 will be a little better and streaming and editing. Both should be about equal in gaming.
 Posted April 14, 2017 this is a wallet decision. both are good and both will serve the purpose. one will go somewhat beyond the other for productivity. if money is not an issue go big or go home, if your budget is limited and it will be the difference between a better GPU or other system components and you can live with reduced productivity on large scale projects then by all means feel secure with a 1600, both will make you happy
 The R7 1700 will be better but the R5 1600(X) will be good enough if you don't do these that much often.
