What does it take to run csgo 1080p at 300+ fps?

Not much, I remember my old 260 getting that (or very near), a cheap 460/1050 would be perfect for this (IGPUs may not be quite able to always hit this).

RX 460 only gets ~150 fps according to some benchmarks I have been reading

With 1070 I barely see 30% usage at 1080p ultrawide maxed out

 

7600k as CSGO only takes adv. of cores 0-3, and hates HT. And probably 470/480.

Just remembered that I was reading about a Athlon with RX460, not the 460 itself.

 

OP, why 300+ fps? I don't even think there are 300hz monitors

more frames  = lower frametimes = less input lag

Csgo likes strong single threaded performance. You would want a 7600k or 7700k(If you play lower res) and overclock as much as you can. For gpu you wont need that much, iv seen Handi stream with a 4790k with a gtx 760 and still reach 350 fps noted I think he plays at 1024x768. For video settings, shaders is going to tank your fps or cause the most inputlag. I personally have low everything with 4x aa and 4x af with multicore rendering on. Above 300 fps is possible just not everything max settings. Cpu is just the most important and should be overclock

True about Hyper-Threading but cores seem to rather help... and it hurts my chest whenever I see "i5 7600k"

if CS:GO can use up to 6cores at least it would interesting to see 1600x in action on cs:go

The only explanation why I can think of that having a faster FPS than your refresh rate is because you get to see more frames in a single refresh cycle. Though you'd wind up with something like this:

I meant efficiently - some cores just wander around, I've never seen my 4670k go over 90% usage even with a CPU-bound resolution (1440x1080 4:3)

I find CSGo doesn't really take advantage of the CPU either. It could be just my setup, with a slower CPU and all, but I don't see It using more than 75% on any core.

my recent build *See below for Project PC* This throwing out over 250fps+ and both my GPU & CPU load were not at 100% on maxed out settings, I have however locked fps at 120 as thats double my FPS so don't really care for going beyond that. 

My laptop (MSI GE60 2PE) with its 860M was rocking 100+ and with some small tweaks was sitting at 180fps.

At first you have to find a 300hz display. Good luck with that.
