youtube Fake LTT Channels

So, I only do this because 7.4.2017 released "Wan Show", but yeah...

          -So i have seen these fake channels which use content from Offical LTT channel... they piss me off (kinda)

          -So this kid here: (link to youtube page:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxHKALcAjHZpGCKW-oSr_zg) has used the channel "name" and "channel icon" from LTT, if you wanna...go report him or tell him about that.

1. It shows the kid is lazy and rather than get subs and views the PROPER way, by being good, he's doing it by STEALING LTT's name (which probably isn't an issue on its own) but also STEALING LTT's logo, which COULD potentially have legal issues.

Maybe it is flattery, but it's still not good flattery. It's like saying, "This guy made a business with the same name as your business, and took 1/4 of your customers! That's flattering that he used a similar name!" Sure, it's flattering, but it's also illegal and it's basically being lazy since your products might not actually be as good! That's not to mention, that's stealing your customers!

 

So you're telling me that if you had a growing YouTube channel and some kid just stole your name and logo and made their own YouTube channel with bad videos (this could potentially even impact your channel, if say people search your channel up and go to his instead or they see his videos and are dumb enough to unsub thinking it's yours), that you would ONLY be flattered and not a bit pissed?

Legal issues over 8 views? Any paralegal, officer of the law, DA, judge, would absolutely laugh you and this case out of court. I have a business, I routinely encourage people to start a business, hell copy me for all I care cause it wont effect me one bit. Competition is good for business.

 

Its not illegal in the sense of monetary value so who gives a crap besides worry warts that want to be in control of everything. People like you.

 

Saying something doesn't make it true, facts do. Your math is way off. 1/4 of his customers? LLT original gets 500k-2.5 million views per video. LTT copy cat got 8 views. 8 goes into 2.5 million is .000032%. Not nearly the 25% you're suggestion.  Again, people like you are a problem, not this "person" just trying something.

 

Also, you understand every business is a copy cat of something, right? Think Computers, how many companies are there selling Mobos? GPU's? PSU's? Etc etc etc. Think a little. They are all selling the same product, the only problem is the name of the "business" which btw. Most banks do not consider a youtube channel a business. So once again, gray area that matters little as of right now.

Absolutely correct, wouldn't bother me in the least. I would get into contact with the kid and ask him if he needed help with anything, then proceed to sell him stuff I have done in the past that never made it to live. I support anyone that is willing to try. Copy cat or not, this could be the beginning of something great. Why stifle someone with 8 total views? See where they go, maybe in a few months he gets his first idea for a name for his youtube channel.

But they aren't flat out copy cats. They don't copy each other's names. They don't copy each other's products. Is a hero motherboard the same as an xpower titanium? Far from it. While they copy features, they don't exactly copy it but make their own version of it.

 

That doesn't warrant copying other people's stuff.

 

Copying doesn't lead to progress. Innovation does. There's a reason why patents exist.

 

As much as some people will disagree, people do things for money. If someone copies your work once you make something, the amount of money you make can decrease dramatically. This discourages innovation, since why innovate if you're gonna get copied anyways and won't make any more money than you would've if you didn't innovate?

 

And while naturally, 8 views won't make an impact, if someone thinks 8 views is fine, then 9 views is also fine. Then 10. Then 11. And so on. Soon it's 100. Then 1,000.

 

While naturally it's harmless, you have to put a stop to it while it still is harmless, or it could grow into something that could become a huge issue.

Linus tech tips isn't even relevant to the channel. It should be "gaming videos with -name-" or something. Just because you think they will change their name doesn't mean they will. You can't work off such assumptions.

I was talking about the assumption that they would change the channel name.

 

Because 8 views could turn to 10. Which turns to 50. Which turns to 100. And so on. Stop it at its source.

The motherboards are all doing the same thing. Materially they are different but functionality is the same.. Exactly like LTT original, and the LTT copy cat.

They still do it differently. There ARE differences; different bioses, different performance in certain scenarios (DPC latency comes to mind), etc. They aren't copies of each other. Asus has Aura sync. MSI has the mystic light app. The two are different. I don't think gigabyte or asrock have a similar thing. But they AREN'T copies. They're similar, but not copies. It's just like how a Sapphire nitro and MSI gaming x card are similar, but they most definitely aren't copies.

 

Exactly, to get the creator profits. This encourages innovation. Without protection, there's less innovation since why innovate? Very few people have the good of humanity 100% as their motive. Money is almost always a big motivator. Hence why patents are so important and why copying is bad.

I don't have a problem with people who take someone else's idea and use it help build their own product but the key there is that they evolve the idea into something that is uniquely theirs. Straight up copy pasting someone else's work though doesn't do anyone any good and is pure plagiarism. As far as using someone else's name/logo goes that is a bad move, you'd really hate it if you bought a 500 USD smartphone from brand X which had their logo and name on it and looked exactly like the real thing but turned out to be a cheap copy worth 50 cents.
