CPU for my new pc

Go to solution Solved by Devansh Kumar,

I'd recommend saving up a bit more to get a 6 gig 1060(would help with streaming and editing).  And also get a 6500 instead of a 6600. Not a huge differece in performancif you are not getting a 6600k and overclocking it(but again, b250 mobo??)

I need advice on CPUs. I'm building a pc that is intended mostly for gaming with hopes of recording and editing in the near future. My motherboard that I have already bought is an MSI B250 pc mate which, correct me if I'm wrong, does not support overclocking. I have 8gb (2x4) corsair vengeance ram, and I intend to buy an evga 1060 3gb gpu. I'm not sure however which CPU to get. Should I get the i5 6500, or 6600?? (Budget oriented)

Thanks, Cleedus777

If you are going to get a the 6600 is only marginally better than a 6500 with its 100mhz. You likely wont notice the difference at all in anything you do. Save yourself the extra few $$ and get the 6500.

I would get the i5-6500 if I was going for budget and would put the extra money into something like an SSD or more RAM rather than an extra 300MHz of clock speed.

try to get a 6700, OpenCL rx480.

i5-6700 is also a good option though if you have the extra money to spend.

I7 6700 is what you should get if you want to do edeting tbh. anyway get an RX 480 instead if you dont need the NVIDIA feature set like ShadowPlay

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

AMD has ReLive as an alternative to Nvidia's ShadowPlay
