While ssds generally have longer lives than hard drives, they are bound to die at some point. Could die the day you install it or 10+ years later. Hard to know.

Considering the SSD has less than 5 TB Written, I doubt it will die anytime soon.

I wouldn't get used storage personally, but if you're on a budget it's a good deal.

Drive looks fine health wise. See if you can get the receipt to go with it if you want the warranty.

Great deal. That means that the SSD isnt even one year in use. I have my SSD now 8 month and wrote 8 TB.

I assume it lasts around 300 TB since my 512 GB Evo lasts for 150 TB.

why

You don't know what data has been on them before.

Also, a bunch of the writes have already been used and it's not a fresh drive.

Yes but smart can't tell you everything, such as if it was dropped, working in high temperature, or other stuff that isn't visible but will reduce lifetime in the long run.

true but it's more a case by case decision not a blanket rule

I wouldn't risk lots of important data on a used drive that you don't know how it has been treated.

I care about reliability, but that's just me.
