How to record 1440p w Shadowplay and upload to Youtube?

Hi all,

 

I have a 2k (2560 x 1440) monitor and am trying to record higher resolution video (game replays) to distribute on Youtube. I record my game replays using Nvidia Shadow Play. The recorded game is saved as a .mp4. According to Windows, it has the following specifications: 

 

Frame Width: 1920

Frame Height: 1080

Data Rate: ~50,000kbps

Frame Rate: ~60

 

Firstly, it is not recording at 2560 x 1440. Secondly, when I upload the 1920 x 1080 format .mp4, the resolution is unsatisfactory on Youtube. 

 

(1) How do I get Shadow Play to record my videos in full 2k video (rather than 1920 x 1080)?

(2) How do I then get Youtube to allow higher than 1080 resolution?

You either play at a higher resolution record it at that or you render it at a higher resolution

Both my monitor and in-game resolutions are set to 2560 x 1440. Why doesn't Shadow Play record at that resolution?

Thank you sir! This has been handled. 

 

Now the new problem: after I used Youtube Video Editor, the quality of the output drops back to 1080p!

Iv never used youtubes editor so not sure about that

Only supports a max resolution of 1080P unless they have changed it.
