Do I need to remind you that AMD still has no upper mid tier or high tier GPUs? This are the prime and only recommended candidates for dual or multi GPUs. They should have absorbed the costs of licensing SLI for the lower end chipsets.

R9 390/x and Fury are high-end GPUs, when VEGA comes out, it will be high-end too. Those who are running dual gpus won't be running on value chipsets. Want multi-monitor support on a budget board, then get the cheapest gpu there is, like a R7 240 or HD5450.

Not surprising.

AMD's been pretty straight forward with Crossfire. If it has the slots, it'll work. Even a 970 (which is the lowest I'd ever go on the AM3+ platform) has Crossfire support, even though it's lacking SLI in most boards.

 

For further reference, SLI requires validation from nVidia, while Crossfire is pretty lenient in the validation, making most (if not all) boards with at least 2 PCI-e slots Crossfire compatible.

I expected it kinda, it's neat. Also doesn't need to be two high end GPUs but maybe a mid tier and another one later on let's say.
