Need help with h100i v2 install

Go to solution Solved by MVPernula,

As far as I can see the USB part isn't necessairy unless you want the corsair link features, and if it works the same way as the H100i you can plug it in to begin with, set it to the color you want and then unplug it, the color will stay.

If you want to change color:

  • Plug in the USB from the pump
  • Install Corsair Link
  • Set color
  • Turn off
  • Unplug USB from MOBO and pump
  • Turn on

If the color is fine:

  • Unhook the USB from MOBO and Pump
  • Plug in front USB
  • Gogogo

Trying to install an h100i v2. I have a Maximus ix hero mobo. I am only seeing one USB header available which I already have my front USB connected to. I can unplug this and connect my pump to it and boot but then I would lose my front USB. First time building so any advice would be appreciated.

There should be 2 internal USB 2.0 Headers and 2 3.0 USB Internal Headers in Maximus IX Hero. The one to right of the two "ROG_EXT" is a USB 2.0 header.

EDIT: My bad, you're already using that port

EDIT 2: There is only one header, I messed up, sorry. That's actually really funny my Maximus VI Hero has 2 headers, even gen VII has 2 headers.

What is yhat hookup next to your Audio port? Also, what's that header between your USB 3 and USB 2?

I'd recommend getting a card if you don't have one. The software is really nice for monitoring and controlling the H100i. Custom fan curves and changing between quiet and performance pump is nice as well.

If you have rubber grommets or holes that go through to the rear I/O, just do what I did with a regular USB 2.0 cable, to keep your front I/O :)
