my friend is a new pc gamer and is asking me to build his new pc build how many fans can I connect to this before adding an adapter Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard

The manufacturer has your answer (under internal I/O Ports)

i second this, AM3+ is really outdated at this point it'd be better for your friend to buy a new Pentium or i3 as then there is room for a cpu upgrade, AM3+ is basically restricting him to whatever cpu he buys and then thats it, if he wants a different cpu in a few years then you'll need quite a few new parts.
