I don't mean to start a war, but why is console gaming viewed as "bad"? I play a fair few games on the console and a fair few on the PC, and I've had great experiences with both. Shouldn't we only care about the experiences we have while gaming, not through what hardware they are delivered?

Edit: I probably won't be able to check LTT until tomorrow, please don't argue in the comments, I just want facts.

The problem is when you're trying to deliver amazing looking games with outdated hardware. You run into problems such as lower texture quality, lower resolutions, lower frame rates, frame rate dips, etc. You make sacrifices in order to achieve something, and this can be seen in Uncharted 4 where there are frequent frame dips due to the resolution and textures, and some other things like the physics processing.

Most look down upon consoles for pay-to-play online schemes, a smaller pool of games and limited performance (pretty sure they only got to 60fps recently but don't quote me on that).  Yes it is best to base your view of things on experiences but some can't seem to grasp that.  I enjoy games across the platforms, I've enjoyed a Wii, PS2, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, even Mac and my PC.

in the Xbone, both the CPU and GPU are outdated.

I think that Console OSes like the Xbox One uses, should be available to the public so that people can turn a PC which meets the specs required into a dedicated gaming machine.

Nothing is "wrong" with consoles. They have their purpose and they meet that purpose. Same with gaming or word processing PCs and supercomputers. They all have a purpose and aim to achieve it.

I think nothing is much wrong with console, i know people who just play on console and they seem to be quite happy with it. It just all base on people lifestyle. It just most people is quite hard convince parent to buy another computer when they already have one. A console is easier for parent to control, just take console away, while for PC your child might need it to do school work and harder to control their usage.

My bother does similarly. He plays on console because his friends are on Console and he's nowhere near tech savvy enough to build a computer, let alone set it up and use it.

Of course it can, no console right now can play native 4k at over 60 fps but most PCs can't either and most people can't afford a PC that can.

Some televisions have a really cool feature that will make what you're seeing on the screen look like it's running at a higher refresh rate than it really is. I bought my dad a mid-range Samsung Smart TV that has this and it looks fucking awesome when it works.

For the past few years, it's looking more and more like Xbox os is fading out. Windows 10 includes the Xbox app, and windows 10 game store is also picking up. I can imagine 5 years down the line, Microsoft releasing a windows XX "gaming" in addition to the classic "home" and "professional " versions. The gaming would have the bare minimum; Microsoft edge, a store, an Xbox app, etc. while the full versions of Windows would have all of the standard stuff in addition to the store and Xbox apps. This way, it would kind of work like steam big picture mode, except the gaming version would be permanently in this mode and the normal versions would have an app or something to enter this mode.

I think AMD's head of RTG put it best when he talked about experience per dollar on Consoles and how PCs should become more powerful regardless of what tier you are purchasing (e.g. Low End, Mid Range, High End or Enthusiast).

I also find that people who play on consoles are generally more casual and aren't really super interested in games, so much as they are interested in games and the social aspect of Console gaming.

Yes and those low end PCs cost as much if not more than a console usually.  Probably the greatest thing a console has going for it is price.

Nothing wrong with it. I used to have a PS3 and a PS Move with it. It was the time when I did not know much about PC and PC gaming and it was a really fun experience. Especially all the cool PlayStation exlcusives that PC gamers will never get like: Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo, God of War, Uncharted and The Last of Us. Couch gaming was so relaxed than all competitive games on PC lol

Yes it does? These televisions are getting to where they can make your video signal look better than it could before, both in frame rate and sharpness.
