How do you add member's quotes into a existing post?

I made a reply to a topic and I hit submit. Then I saw a post I would like to quote, so I went back to edit my post. I highlighted that member's reply and click on "Quote this". That member's quote does not go into the reply I'm editing, instead it starts as a new post. Now If I just hit submit, I will just make a double post and I don't want that, so I have to hit cancel and start over. By clicking on edit in my existing post, then tag that member and quote what they said. So, how do I add a member's quote into a existing post?

I've always copy and pasted it back up to the edit after using quote this or full quote as it only puts it down into the reply box.

That's not it. Do exactly what you did in that gif, after clicking on submit reply and then clicking on edit.

I was wondering this earlier today.  If it was BBC it would be easy, but they can't add that for some reason.

I'm not sure about that, as far as I know it was designed just for the reply box, you would have to ask Mortis about that one.

1. Submit a reply

2. Click on Edit

3. Quote another reply. Note how this quote is now in a new reply box, and not in the reply you're currently editing.  This was my problem.

Ah, so that's why you do it, now maybe I can do less double posts  (not like I double posted that much anyway...ermmm)
